‘Kuzo Zangpo La’
Our inspiration is Bhutan, and the special place it represents in the world and in our heart. The vision for ASHA was first inspired during personal travels to Bhutan in 2006. An experience of Bhutan, its people, culture and traditions, peaceful untouched lands in the Himalayas, the magic of tzechu festivals, colorful tongkas, and the meditative air within dzongs that spills over into day to day life, created for me a deep feeling of hope in the world. ‘ASHA’ is Sanskrit for ‘hope’. There is so much hope in a land and new democratic monarchy that chooses the quality of ‘happiness’ as a measure for the quality of life.
Since that life changing experience in Bhutan, the vision has been to support and create closer links with Bhutan, its people, the government, and newly created businesses, with valuable services not presently available in Bhutan, to support, develop and uplift and honor the message of ‘hope’ and happiness that represents Bhutan.
